Security and Badging Program

The Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) aims to protect all employees while at work. To achieve this goal, all employees, contractors, and visitors are asked to take all our security and safety protocols seriously.

TFC has a rigorous procedure for issuing an access badge. Before an employee or contractor may receive a badge, a background check is conducted. This is an important step to help us know who is onsite and ensure the safety of everyone who has access to State office buildings.

Employees' supervisor and contractors' project managers are responsible for completing the paperwork requesting badge access and describing the type of access the employee or contractor will have to state buildings, specific rooms, and worksites. Each employee/contractor has a unique access profile based on their job duties.

Safety Rules

All employees and contractors must wear a badge while on the worksite.
Only use your badge for legitimate business access to the workplace.
Do not share your badge with anyone or grant access to unauthorized or unbadged individuals.
Badge into all areas that require scanning, even if someone holds the door for you.
Do not allow others to enter behind you without scanning. This is called "tailgating, drafting, or piggybacking" and it is prohibited.
Do not prop open secure areas, so other do not have to scan their badges
Do not tamper with your badge or access devices.
Report missing or stolen badges immediately.
Always keep your badge secure.

These safety rules will help keep you and your coworkers safe at work.

Note: Failure to follow the TFC Safety Rules can result in disciplinary actions or termination.
