Information Technology
The Information Technology (IT) department provides technical services to the Texas Facilities Commission in networking, desktop/server support, applications development, technology policy and procedures, and project management. The IT department's responsibilities include Strategic Planning, Data Security, and Biennial Operation Planning for Information Technology.
IT Network Operations Center and Help Desk
IT Operations Center supports network infrastructure for several buildings in four cities, file/print services, database servers, and workstations. IT Operations also manages the agency’s telecommunications, electronic fax services and routed data.
Application Support
The Application Support team provides programming development and support for applications statewide and for internal programs of the Commission. Application Support also provides IT support for the implementation of new systems, through project management, system analysis, design and programming.
The Electronic and Information Resources (EIR) Accessibility Coordinator is assigned to the Application Support group to oversee compliance with the accessibility rules assigned by the State of Texas in accordance with the Texas Administrative Code, Title 1, Chapters 206 and 213.
Building Controls Network Operations
BCN Operations manages and maintains all HVAC, Energy, Security and Fire related activities for the TFC network infrastructure of approximately 150 buildings in 4 cities. The BCN provides network architecture or backbone connectivity for all network transmissions and communications from the Network Operation Centers and remote sites to ensure 24x7x365 real-time monitoring by TFC staff.
Prasanth Manukonda, CIO
Prasanth is the Chief Information Officer at the Texas Facilities Commission (TFC), a position he has held since 2022. His career spans various leadership roles in government, academia, healthcare, research, and biotech.
At TFC, Prasanth oversees the IT Operations, and Network Operations Centers, and Application Development for the agency. He is responsible for strategic planning, governance, project portfolio management, and the modernization of technology, ensuring that TFC remains at the forefront of technological advancements. In addition to his extensive experience, he possesses multiple certifications in the field, further highlighting his expertise.
Prasanth holds a master’s degree in management information systems and a master’s in human resource management. His academic and professional achievements include serving on the Advisory Committee on Clinical and Translational Science at Rockefeller University, presiding as the President of the Management Information Systems Organization at the University of Houston, and being elected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
