The Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) serves as the real estate development arm of the State of Texas, managing a more than $4 billion facility portfolio. Through detailed data collection and strategic master planning, TFC works with State agencies to prioritize projects based on most urgent need. Project types include office space, conference space, medical office space, warehouse, and special utility spaces.

TFC’s Facility Design & Construction (FDC) division thoroughly analyzes the need for each new project and seeks capital appropriations. The TFC land acquisition team acquires the necessary real property to construct facilities for the future development of the State building program, then an assigned FDC project manager will procure the design and construction services to accomplish the State’s project plan goals. New construction projects range from two-story tilt wall standalone structures to multi-phased campuses with high-rise office buildings. All projects are planned, designed, and constructed to maximize cost effectiveness with an anticipated 100-year life span.

Current Texas Facility Commission new constructions include:

  • DPS Training Academy – Florence, TX

  • Texas State Library and Archives Warehouse – Pflugerville, TX

  • The Texas School for the Deaf Dormitories – Austin, TX
